From The Black Keys: “We are very sorry to have to cancel our upcoming performances through March 10. Patrick needs time to heal. We thank all of our fans for their support and we’re looking forward to getting back on the road.”
I don't think this will affect Mountain Jam and if so,they could just move Mule into the Headlining spot and I think everyone would be perfectly happy!

** One more thing, anyone hear from Soulmate? It's been a while since she has graced us with her sunshine on the board and I'm concerned if she is ok. I know, sounds dumb but she's a refreshing perspective and lifeline to the others on the board and council........ Soulmate is fine and she is watching you.......

I'm surprised how rough people are being on the lineup this year. We basically have 6 headliners: (Mule, Plant, Moe, Shakes, B.Keys, Grace). I know Black Keys aren't a great fit(last 2 albums sucked) but it will be interesting to see how they will sound on the mountain. I am intrigued. And besides, if you don't dig the Keys, you have Mule going on before and after (Gary confirmed this in the Q & A). So Sat will be: Mule>Keys>Dark Side Mule, plus whatever is earlier. Not too shabby. I can see why people are complaining about Shakes closing over Plant, but now we get Plant on Friday, right when we are hitting our stride. Shakes will bring the mountain justice. Brit can belt and her band is some good old fashion rock-n-roll. Saw them once and it just made me want to see them again. Plus, they are working on a new album, so they should break out some new tunes. Also looking forward to Marco, Shakey Graves, Benjamin Booker, one of the reggae acts (Rebelution/Wailers), Dopapod, RRE, JRAD, Lake Street Dive, Trigger Hippy, Big Gigantic, Nicki Bluhm, Rusted Root.......Plenty to get excited about. I, personally am all about seeing new bands and Shakey Graves, B.Booker & Lake Street Dive are all up there in bands i wanted to see, along with RRE & Marco. Hopefully they add another Reignwolf/Moon Taxi type band.

From the Q&A - Mountain Jam Festival Gov't Mule will be playing a late night set on Friday and then a full set before The Black Keys on Saturday night! NOT playing 2x on the same night.

Does anyone have an educated guess for how long the Plant and Black Keys headlining sets will be? Most of the Friday and Saturday headliners I remember from recent years have played two sets, taking up 3+ hours of the schedule. I don't think either of these bands tend to play two-set shows, and most of what I have seen on YouTube for full show recordings has been more in the 1.5 hour range.
I'm hopeful that the relatively shorter headlining sets will leave more time for a couple of the earlier bands (Mule and JRAD especially) to play longer shows. I'm trying to be more excited about the lineup, but there is a serious lack of jams, so the bands that will improvise and explore the music - Mule, JRAD, moe, RRE - need to be given as much time as possible.

JRAD, RRE, MOE look to be Thursday.
You are right at 3+ hour slots and got to wonder about them playing that long.

Msmw would fit under grace and moe. On the line up. That could give us scomule, and some serious jamming.

First the Black Keys drummer gets hurt now Michael Franti tears his meniscus! If Franti tore his meniscus, depending on how bad, it's usually a 4-8 week recovery. He should be back to his old self well before June.
