i think i predicted robert plant. is he closing the fest? i would assume yes. where are people seeing the shakes headlining sunday. also, mule better headline friday or another day. shakes headlining over mule would be wrong. overall good line-up. on the line up page on the mountain jam website. says the shakes are headlining on sunday. weird. should be plant.and no where does it say Plant is headlining any day?? thats odd also It says Plant headlines Friday.

Overall looks good, probably the most even of the announcements since we went to 3 and 4 days.
But that's just it. It is missing something and Shakes closing doesn't make sense. Then again the epic Levon show didn't make sense at the time.
We are at 28 so there will be some additions, mostly minor ones. I have got to think the actual Sunday headliner will be announced at the next price point release of tickets. If they announced Thursday, Friday, Saturday with Sunday blank with Shakes at the top of the bill it would let the cat out of the bag that there was another headliner. We got JRAD so maybe no need of more DEAD. I'm thinking they are going to look at how the ticket sales go and then determine how much they need or can spend on that Sunday act.
The important thing is that the Franti lunch break time is intact... and no Avett Brothers.

Grace Potter & the Nocturnals. 8 years ago maybe a fit at Mtn. Jam. I don't see where they fit in... Her band is great. She was good when she played the B3. Now she's just over-promoted and really screechy / annoying. I guess on Friday night, opening for Robert Plant. I'd hate to see a Saturday Mule extravaganza interrupted by her. I can envision a Mule > Black Keys > Mule vibe that could be almost as great as Sat. night last year. I remember this argument... I think the final answer was:

The shakes, although really good live, don't deserve to close the jam. They only play for 1:15 minutes more or less....

misterbrow - I think you're being overly optimistic. Why would the Alabama Shakes be ok with being announced as the headliner on Sunday only to be upstaged at a later date? If they weren't the headliner, the festival would have left a blank TBA slot on the lineup, just like they did last year before the Allman Brothers were announced. As much as I agree that it doesn't make sense, the Alabama Shakes will be closing out the festival on Sunday.
I am hopeful that there are at least a couple more than minor additions coming. In 2013, Franti, Big Gigantic, and White Denim were all bigger than minor additions, and they weren't added to the lineup until Feb 26. Last year ABB and Robert Randolph were added after the iniital lineup. While there isn't room for more headliners, and there will definitely be some minor additions coming, I think there is still space for some more middle tier (late afternoon/early evening) acts to fill out the 2015 lineup.

Hey guys I'm excited for this initial lineup and we only have 28 a lot more still to come. One thing is for sure late nights are going to kill it with Big Gigantic, Dopapod and Dark side of the Mule. Cant wait for june and to see to guys at MacGregors

I am STOKED for this lineup. Don't get why so many people bummed. I'm glad it's different this year. Last 2 years we've seen plenty of Dead. Unless they somehow brought back Jerry, I'm good with no major Dead this year. Looks like Alabama Shakes is closing it out and i'm fine with that. Obviously Plant is the bigger act, but every year we complain that the biggest act should be Fri or Sat so they put Plant on Friday, similar to when WSP played Friday. That's gonna be a kick ass night. Alabama Shakes will blow people away on Sunday. Their singer is phenomenal and the music rocks out and fits perfect. They might not be as good as some of the past acts, but they are different and will be fun. I bet Warren comes out and I'm sure they will play longer than normal sets. Rest of the lineup is fine by me. I've been wanting to see RRE so that's cool. Shakey Graves, Lake Street Dive & B.Booker are all newer bands that I will not miss. Marco Benevento is another I've been wanting to see for years but always miss. Between Dopapod, Big Gigantic & Mule late night is covered. They will be adding more bands, my prediction is it will be one of these: Tedeschi Trucks, The Word or Lettuce. Possibly 2. I could also see Gary Clark Jr or Mister Brow's favorite: The Avett Brothers, just because people on msg boards are already calling for them. Not a bad idea giving them a break this year, since they've been at 3 of the last 4.

DEADTILLDYE- You are the only person ever to call me optimistic.
I feel like we've had bands announced as headliners and had a bigger band booked. If Shakes was told they were booking someone else... hey guys were trying to put together some kind of DEAD reunion thing but...
Honestly, we head out before the closer encore anyway so I am fine with getting to see them and missing "Hold On". They will likely hit the vibe like Winwood did if they do close it out.
If it's the Avetts I'll get my box of RingDings from Jetro and then head home.

I remember this argument... I think the final answer was: Heh. Yes, she can be cute. I see her around town here in Burlington. She's overexposed... in more ways than one. Is it actually true that she used to paint houses and hang drywall around Burlington? Have to hope she plays a Gracie Grace set like the old days. She understands the crowd and the MJ vibe. We will not get the stadium show. It is tough when you know that musicians just want to "make it" and we blame the man for keeping real talent down... and when they have some success it just isn't the same, and we're mad. For every Grace there are thousands of road dogs still living just to bend that note in two. It will be a bit of a homecoming, it will be nice, a great number of us will slumber in our makeshift homes for the weekend dreaming about her.
