This is our first festival at Mountain Jam or anywhere, except Clearwater. We're camping at North-South Lake, which is nearby, and driving to Hunter. Is it a hassle getting in? I've seen bottlenecks at Croton and want to avoid that kind of situation.

In the years before car camping it was a breeze. These days there is no parking at the venue. If you were a VIP you could buy VIP parking. From the MJ website: All regular parking will be at off-site lots and patrons will be shuttled to the gate on continuous bus service. As in previous years, campers will be allowed to drop off their gear in front of the lodge and then cars will be directed to off-site lots. The only attendees who will be allowed to park on-site will be: Jammers & Super Jammers who have purchased a Jammer Parking Pass, Car Campers (with a Car Camping Pass, Mountaintop Car Camping Pass, or Near-Car Camping Pass), and Riverside, Premium and Mountaintop RV Passholders. We will also have a limited amount of On-Site Parking Passes that will be available to tent campers only. Stay tuned for more information and for a detailed parking map. Tentative Off-site Parking Lot Shuttle Hours Thursday: 8:00 AM – 3:15 AM Friday: 8:00 AM – 3:15 AM Saturday: 10:00 AM – 3 :15 AM Sunday: 10:00 AM – 1:00 AM Monday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM Read More: Parking | 10th Annual Mountain Jam - June 5-8, 2014 | mountainjam.com/parking/?trackback=tsmclip

Yep - but they weren't offering that before. Only VIPs could buy an on-site pass.

I bought an a la carte parking pass last minute from someone on the board last year. They must have opened up parking passes to non VIP's last year too, but I had missed the opportunity. I did buy the pass because I had bronchitis and I wanted to be able to go back to the car and rest if needed and to have lots of stuff with me, as we were not camping. It was really nice to have the car close. I don't remember it costing 75 dollars last year though. This year my hubby who has been to almost all of the mountain jams bought VIP passes and the parking. I am not sure that is all necessary but I'm sure we will enjoy it. I don't enjoy camping so I will have to miss all of you nice people in the campground and see you out in the festival.

Do I need to make a snarky comment about that photo looking more appropriate for the post office Most Wanted wall?
