Seemed better on the mountain but the crowd and scene were a bit different this year! I gotta say I miss all the wookies!

Honestly, I thought security was handled perfectly. They were thorough enough for campground entrance...if you hid your stuff you were fine. There were times when the cops were hanging out near the security gate (sometimes with a dog) but that was only around mid day on Saturday. Everybody already had their shit in the campgrounds by then so you should be fine. I'm sure the police presence reassured many families that the festival was still family friendly. Once you were inside, it was all gravy. I didn't see or hear of any undercovers. The security going from the campgrounds to the festival was similarly handled. If you went early in the day or late at night, you could bring all your beer/weed in and nobody cared. In the afternoons they were being more thorough, but not busting people if they found beer/weed, they'd just make you return it to the campsite (or tell you to hide it better). Late nights were great...all the kiddies were obviously gone so they didn't need to be beer/weed nazis.
A+ for the cops this year. It was my first MJ and i was worried from reading all the posts about previous years. I can't wait to come back I had a blast

Still an article about arrests at Mountain Jam are usually follow by NO articles about arrests at Taste of Country... Which is a violent and horrible event.. We wittnessed assaults last year... None made the paper... We witnessed DWI and drug arrests.... None made the paper...
I had heard form someone... That Taste of Country "tips" the police for a job well done.. And that Mountain jam does not..
Maybe that's why the police blotters never make it to the newspaper for Taste of Country..

Boy... talking about bringing attention to all the negative stuff the City Council was trying to avoid....I wish the hater of the PoPo would remove that post....
From my perspective, Gary did a great job working with the local police and City Council to make the festival as non invasive as possible. I saw nothing negative regarding a police force.
Security was as humble as pie and I actually, out of respect for their long hours and positive demeanor, got to know most on first name basis. They were awesome.
As for their flexibility, they were more respectful of your personal space, more than last year.
Overall an excellent experience, I met unbelievably nice people and I look forward to doing this again

Security team was awesome. Cops were pulling people aside and bringing them somewhere...they were visible but not too intrusive

The main lodge entrance was a full on pat down every time. I wonder if that had more emphasis with day trippers using that one?

Those little tags were kind of a possible reason everyone got sick, one person sick touches the terminal then everyone else susceptible could of been infected ! Need to make it so you don't have to touch the terminal and it does't sterilize you. They were borg like I cut my tag open and found a little metal section, when I got home of course. I saw one white guy with black shirt and blackstrait hair young run by with what looked like a black carry bag, like he was being chased and he ripped someone off everyone around me saw him as well, he was high speed and running down the hill knocking out fence lines not caring moving high speed looking behind like he was being chased he had a long black carry bag. Beyond that Saturday or Sunday morning I saw a sketchy looking character walking looking in tents by me, white dude 40s with a red hoodie and unshaven ring beard and goatee looking in peoples open tents, keep your tent stuff hidden, keep the stuff you bring in to a bare minimum, else carry stuff on you, use a money belt also a teather they sell wallet, cellphone and camera teathers that are soft waterproof with a rope to teather it to your belt and keep it in your pocket so in crowds it stays attached, else their also called a keychain lanyard and loop.

Where were they having people scan out? I left through an exit door in the lodge and no one bothered me. In fact, my brother told me he even entered through that door on Friday and no one stopped him.

In fact, my brother told me he even entered through that door on Friday and no one stopped him. It was random at the tunnel entrance... Sometimes they were total jerks about it... sometimes nobody was there... But they harassed me a couple times Sometimes the State Troopers were there looking over securities shoulder - sometimes they were not as well..
