Hey all, been to many a festival, but this'll be my first Mountain Jam. Wondering if the "Jammer" package is worth it?? I bought VIP passes to as many festivals as I have GA and some have been worth it and others, not so much. Wondering how MJ's package stacks up? I very much like getting up close to the music but am not a huge fan of staking out a spot 3hrs in advance so the vip viewing areas do intrigue me. Anyway, just looking to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

The consensus has always been, "No".

Speaking as a person outside the consensus...
I like getting VIP every year... My girlfriend gets me it for Christmas...
I don't use the up close viewing. i use it for the separate entrance, discount drinks and AWESOME food on the concert field...

Your GF is awesome and I certainly would not turn down a VIP pass. For more than double the price you could bring another person along, maybe one of her GFs... hehehehhe.. I'll try a better answer:
Exclusive Jammer entrance to festival grounds - Drummer, explain that one, I've always been chased away from that entrance and have to walk through the entrance right next to it.
Special Jammer viewing area in front of the main stage - Mr Brow towers a near 5'6'' this is an advantage but my ears can't handle being that close anymore. Most people down in that area seem to ignore the music and try to talk anyway
Access to Jammer (VIP) Campgrounds with free hot showers and 24-hour access to indoor bathrooms - We RV and are resigned to being slightly greasy hippies for four days
Jammer Hospitality Tents include hot and cold hors d'oevres, complimentary snacks, discounted drinks and soft drinks
Access to Jammer Lounge in the Learning Center with Jammer Concierge, indoor hang-out space and with 24-hr indoor bathrooms. - If it was free beer then we would have something. $6 beer vs. $9? We stock the RV with beer and food and hit our favorite vendors for Puri Baji, crawfish pie, ice cream... Colonels Hall works to get out of the sun and catch an undercard band, I don't know what I would do with a concierge
Free Jammer merchandise package (includes limited edition festival t-shirt and poster) - I seriously have 7 MJ tshirts that I have acquired almost accidentally over the years
Includes access for tent camping only (does not include an RV Pass or Car Camping Pass). If you would like to camp in your RV or with your car, you must purchase an RV Pass or an Jammer Car Camping Pass (1 per vehicle) in addition to this 4-Day Jammer Pass with Camping.
Jammer (VIP) Parking: You must buy an Jammer Parking Pass (1 per vehicle) to park your vehicle in the Jammer Parking lot (in close proximity to the festival gate) - Not included, have to pay extra, now if they included VIP parking and you could circumvent the satellite parking there would be value there

Like I said... the discount drinks and food they lay out is awesome... Full Moon is a a great local catering place.. The bartenders on the woods are cool... I actually own a house right off the parking lot now... But I'm still not traipsing back and forth for beer or food...

I've been to a lot of festivals and it is always worth it for me for the VIP. You are always closer to the stages when camping and have a place to get out of the sun(rain) and still listen to music. Usually a little quieter during the late night hours as well. if you can swing it go for it..

I never liked being in the VIP Pen... And i didn't like what they did with it last year... So - I'll just chill in the crowd with all my friends...

what did they do last year that you didn't like drummer? they redesigned the access to the VIP area and ruined the flow of crowd... And any car illegally parked on my lawn... Will be towed..

Traipser here too! hell,I even go to the car, drive back to the place we stay(like 1 mile down the road across from the Honey store) and drop off/pick up the wife, get more beer, meet friends to bring back. last year I left at the end of the first set of Mule to take some friends back to their car and walked back in just as they were starting to play the 2nd set!
