Its been a while since I have returned to MJ I have been experiencing other festies that past few years. So a basic question when do the gates open and they allow people to come in and start setting up their camp. I dotn want to get there and have to search and search for a campsite

If you get there on Thursday, I think, gates open at 11am or noon. There is not a steady stream of huge crowds typically until late friday. We got in on friday at 10 am and had no issue finding a site in the good areas. It never really filled up either. People were still setting up late Friday on the lower part of what is now Hunter 1,2.

How is it with the car camping? Last time I was there, we had to wait in the wristband line at the ski lodge building first before we walked in with our stuff. How are they doing it with car camping this year?

Seems like every year is different. A few years ago everyone drove through the main entrance. Last year (or year before?) car campers took a side road that was before the main entrance. My guess is they'll keep that strategy since it seemed to work so well. FYI they cram those cars in tight. It's absolutely disrespectful and bad business to guarentee a 10'x30' or as they claimed, or even a 10'x10' space. I've got pics to show how tight they had us packed in. I tried to complain on the spot and was threatened with ejection from the fest. It would be nice if someone associated with mj read this. Well, someone who cares more about the jammers than the bottom dollar. I'm still going because I love the experience and the music. But I'll gladly hike my way up the mountain than spend now $100 for a camping spot whose size isn't guaranteed. Usually when you advertise a product, you guarantee the product. One of the times this isn't true is when a business puts the bottom line first and doesn't have any type of consumer oversight or watchdog agency. The banks and insurance companies try to do this. So do the people that run festivals. Look at the prices of food and drinks. Won't catch me spending dollar one on their shit. Seems to me that if the spirit of the 60s were truly present at these festivals, they wouldn't charge $3 for water! So yeah hope that answers our question about arriving.

I remember asking for a sprite in the ski lodge and ended up with a grape UV and sprite mixed (only 16 at the time, no ID needed). Not complaining, just thought it was funny and pretty cool

Just ordered a new grill to handle all my cooking needs. I'll go head to head with the taco food truck. If you smell legit Mexican coming from a tent that's me!

We have done RV land the last two years. We have not lined up early. No issues with arrival time at 1-2 PM. We drive up on Rt 28, don't drive your RV over the mountain unless you are adventurous.
