Hey everyone! First time Mtn Jammer here and am already counting down the days!. Ive been to my fair share of festivals and love always doing my research. Decided to go with car camping mainly based on pure lazyness. Most people tell me its just as much of a party there as it is regular camping. Just curious thou, for those who have been there or who have car camped before what is the space like? How is the process of getting in? And one last thing of course just because I have here'd SO many different good/bad things about the car/security search. Maybe it will be different this year but do they rip your car apart? Anyone sniffing around for any herbal substances? Most car searches ive been through are a little cooler rummaging checking for glass/fireworks/weapons etc. Let me hear your thoughts. Thanks jammers. cooler rummaging "should" be just about it but a full on empty the car out search is always a possibility - I've never seen or heard of one though. The space is sort of luck of the draw - you'll be directed to whatever area they're filling in at the time you enter and can range from nice and flat to fairly sloped. I don't believe there are any car camping area more than about a 10 minute walk to the entry point for the stages - and that's a good thing. I've seen dogs but I believe they're trained for explosives - if they were sniffing for herbs they'd be completely overwhelmed. Be smart and respectful and there should be no problems.

RV searches have never been more than a walk through and maybe open the fridge and a couple of cabinets.

I packed everything in clear storage containers, so a visual check can be quickly done. I double checked to make sure all liquids are in plastic, not glass containers. I pack in a neat, orderly fashion so the inspection can be done fast. If they find a hint of something that would be considered part of the "no fly list" like a knife or hammer or pot, they will dig deeper.
I did not see aggressive searchers and everyone who I encountered during entrance, as well as the entire festival, were professional and respectful. That was my experience.
As for spot size and location, it's pot luck. I was one of the first twenty who entered on Thursday, as soon as the gates opened. I was put at the top of the mountain, for car camping and it was at a considerable angle, but hey, it's a mountain. I had more room than as they filled towards the bottom and by the time a friend of mine got there on Friday afternoon, he had a corner spot with no more room than for the car.
Again, that was my experience.

my personal experience. they looked in my back seat. we opened the trunk, they looked in my cooler,my suitcase. my shave kit. i had a swiss army knife that they asked about. but didnt confiscate . i wasnt bringing in weed, so i cant comment on that. but i dont remember seeing any dogs when i went in on friday morning. this is just my experience i cant speak for any one else.

First timer here - my husband and I can't leave until 6 on Friday and have a 4 hour drive. Is there a time that's too late to check in?? We wouldn't get there until 10/11. We have a 3 day regular camping pasS but will be setting our tent up on our friends car camping space. Appreciate any info. I emailed the info email address but no response. thanks for your help!

Amanda, You should get your friends to set up your tent for you. It would be cramped by the time you get there on Friday evening.
