My first MJ was last year which is some of the worst rain I've seen...but it all cleared up and it was beautiful for the most part. The rain didn't bother me much just the fact that I was practically sleeping in an inch of water since my tent was leaking (my fault, underprepared). Has it ever stayed dry the entire weekend?

Yes. But those years I recall temps dropping into the 30s at night.

Sparkdog is correct. We've been real lucky most years to avoid rain like last year. Usually we'll get none or just a passing shower or two. It's not unusual to get temps in the upper 30's low 40's at night so bring one more layer of clothing than you think is overkill. After the really cold temps we had in '09 (I think), I've made it mandatory to bring a winter hat and gloves as well as my down sleeping bag and a light down sweater. Of course I'm a skinny old guy and tend to get chilled but YMMV. So weather will be like this..... Rain - expect some. Sun - yup, don't forget sunscreen. Wind - yes , stake down your tent. Snow - highly unlikely. Really anything can happen but most new Jammers are surprised by the cool night time temps.

cant the Llama keep you warm? lol Of course - but they hate being burned alive and frankly, I can't stand their pathetic LLama screams. Darn near tears my heart out to hear it.....Now if you're thinking they could keep me warm in a more "intimate" way........You're SICK! Ever try spooning with Llama?

Good grief I just accidently spit out my juice as I was reading this in sheer laughter. On the more serious side, the RAIN was not RAIN..... that was 36 hours of torrential downpour.... and I didn't like it one bit! Although I did stay dry in my tent. I'm sorry folks, yet I'd take the cold over that horrible rain anyday!
Jead..... Thanks for putting a smile on my face today! Love you man!

What YOU do with your Llama in the privacy of your tent is your business! I thought you could make a sweater or something out of the wool before you get to the Mountain!

Soulmate is right. That rain was brutal. It started at about what time? 5ish Thursday and didn't stop until about Saturday around 8 am or so. Still had a blast in it though. I came pretty prepared. Friday was my favorite day for music and I was in the right mind set. Was a very memorable day even though it rained longer and harder than I can remember. Saturday I remember getting out of the tent and being so happy that the sun was out and the rained stopped. If it kept raining through on Saturday it would have been really hard. And Sunday was just beautiful. I had fun in the rain and can handle the cold but I will take 4 days of sunshine and warm all day. I am not getting my hopes up though. Already got new rain boots for this year.

It has rained at least once at every festival I have ever been to. I always come prepared for the worst and hope I don't need to use it in the long run

We brought a heater and a massive tarp last year the heater dried the tent in a few minutes after it finished raining it also had a CO2 auto shutoff. It always rains it's not that bad if you bring a poncho and a tarp, this year doesn't really matter what a line up who cares if they change up the stages. Wide spread panic played during the pouring rain last year it died down at times and wasn't that bad with rain gear. No matter what you do, you still need a tarp to cover your tent else the rain always seems to get in.
