I am sorry to ask such a simplistic question buttttt... do people brings chairs in ? Do they actually leave them in one spot for viewing or take them with as they are moving around ? Again sorry for the very basic question !

No apology necessary; I asked the same question before my first Mountain Jam! Yes, plenty of people bring chairs. I personally don't move around much, so I usually keep my chair in one spot unless it gets too crowded.

Another question re: chairs... Can we bring "camp" chairs, you know the folding, slightly higher-off-the-ground type? Some venues allow lawn chairs, but not these higher chairs. Hard to distinguish, I know!

Got my (our) answer. I see folding camp chairs on the live stream in the field. Thanks, modern technoogy!

I hate chairs they take up so much room and ruin the flow of people moving around. They should be banned

What should be banned and what I thought was not allowed were the gigantic sports brellas.

Chairs are fine when they were behind the sound booth but they should be banned from the front of stage. You shouldn't be allowed to set up shop right where people are dancing and moving...I felt bad standing in front of people at times who were sitting, but it's a show! Go sit back behind the sound booth if you feel like getting a tan during a Tedeschi-Trucks set!

I think they should start AFTER the sound board.. It gets tough navigating through the chairs when your banged up.. Some tie them together - get all chest thump'y about their personal space at a freaking rock concert.. They really go against what my head is feeling all weekend.. To dance and be free..

Navigating through the chairs was definitely an issue, especially at night once they had closed off the path to the soundboard. If you were in the section of the field in front of the main stage then, the only way out was the small entry to the right of the stage or to work your way through the chairs (in the dark).
If MJ is going to keep that area basically fenced in, it might help to have some dedicated paths through the chairs. Didn't feel very safe the way it was set up.

A path through them would be acceptable..
I just hate being trapped in the middle of a bunch of overzealous chair people giving you shit for stepping on their stuff when there's no other choice..
Goes against everything that i am at a festival..

That fencing i actually created a killer place do dance in front of the stage... The stage down by the camera boom was the deepest your could get in the crowd after they closed off the two sides.. We rocked that space.. Were on the cam all weekend... Cam guy was F'ing with us all weekend...

That was a huge benefit of the closed off space. You could get pretty much anywhere you wanted for a headliner. I was dead center for Umph's & the Allmans about 20 feet back. No crowd crush and plenty of space to move. I was back closer to the soundboard for Bobby and then right up front for Mule. Again, easy access and no real crowd issues.
In fact, stage access was so easy all weekend that I only used the VIP pit once, for Franti. I never once had a problem being exactly where I wanted to be for every band.
I need to rethink my previous post. Screw safety-the crush of chairs and fences was a good thing!

I was at a party in Hunter the weekend before MJam.. A woman asked if i knew if they allowed chairs at the Country Fest.. Told her I didn't attend but they allowed chairs at Mountain Jam... I expected a thankyou.. Instead she started telling me how she like courtty better and hates all that hippy music and pot smoking...
Told her to "stop - you asked about chairs - I really don't care to hear you judge what others like" and walked away..

Mark my words, as I told Saint, next year, UPGRADE YOUR TICKET TO FOUR DAYS CAMPING WITH CHAIR! For a small extra cost you will be able to bring your chair and sit in the dedicated chair section by the sound board. MJ 12... SITING JAMMER and SUPER SITTING JAMMER with premium preunfolded chair seating... for another small additional cost.
