What's the best time to get there to be on line first for Thursday open, any ideas ?

I'll b there early weds nite - into thursday am
I hope there's a place out of the way to hang.
AND - does anyone know about Friday traffic getting in? I have people coming around then (I know they won't camp near me) but just wondering the volume of traffic and clogged roads and such?
I'm thinking Hunter Mtn gate arrival around the time of 8am coming up from NYC.

I'm totally up for getting in line Wednesday night. Though it should be interesting to see if that is even possible. Where people were lined up last year is now a camping area if I remember the new map correctly. We'll have to see where they are setting up the entrance gates this year for the initial check in.

Hey Chris, the lineup is in the same spot this year. If you take a look at the map where it says toll/ ticket sales, that's the same location as lastyear.
The car lot camping in this year's map was where all our cars were parked lastyear.

I remember traffic into Hunter being a bit slow-moving when I arrived during the day on Friday in 2010, but nothing too terrible. Keep in mind though that this was before Thursday was added, so back then there were probably a lot more people arriving on Friday.
In subsequent years I believe I've always arrived Friday evening or Saturday morning. Don't recall any traffic issues at those times.
