So, how kid friendly is Mountain Jam? I've been to many festivals but never with kids. I'd like to go this year but I will be bringing a 5 month old. We will be staying in a hotel. (closest we can get seems to be Albany) Am I nuts to think this is doable?
Ive read online that there are many kid activities. What about amenities?
What is the weather typically like? During day? During night?
any info is appreciated, thanks!

While I can't speak to personal experience with kids, I do know it seems there are a lot of families/kids at Mt. Jam. What's great about the mountain is you can spread out and go further up the hill (and still hear/see) if you want to get the kids away from the larger crowd. There's also a lot of kid friendly activities, but more for toddlers/elementary school age.
Albany is the closest for a hotel? I know most hotels in the area are booked but Saugerties is only 20 miles away. Easier than Albany.

If Saugerties is booked, I would try Kingston. Albany is a solid hour plus from Hunter. Kingston is about 35 minutes away. I've brought both my kids to Mtn Jam. We find it very kid friendly and they love it! It was easier when they were babies because they were portable in the stroller. If you have a jogging stroller, or a stroller with bigger rubber wheels, bring that. I've seen many people carrying umbrella strollers and their kids up the hill because those tiny plastic wheels don't cut it on the hilly terrain. Like someone said, you can always find tons of families on the top of the hill, away from the masses. The lodge offers real bathrooms and shelter from the elements. As far as weather goes, you may see everything from freezing at night to rain to tons of sun - the key is to be prepared for anything.
