I'm a first timer doing car camping, coming in from western NY. The site says tents must be 10x10 max. Mine is 9x13. Is someone coming around to measure? What will they do if mine is too big? I don't want to buy a new tent just for 1 weekend when mine works fine.

Car camping this year!! How strict are they on one tent per site? We have one truck tent and one smaller tent. Also how late can we arrive on Thursday night??

Things change from year to year it seems like... I've been to every MJ since #2 (camped, car camped, rented an RV, day tip, house a few times, ect...) so I've pretty much done it all but they've never been terribly consistent, at least as far as I've seen. You may be fine, but they may give you a hard time and even if one person is cool with it, another "official" may not be.
I know that doesn't help much but if you try it, just be cool if they say something. I've had a few smaller "run ins" with security but it never turned into a big ordeal and most of the "officials" are pretty chill...

Your tent doesnt have to be 10 x 10, it has to fit on a 10 x 30 spot, just orient your tent so it fits, you should be fine.

Hello! First time here as well! Going solo, so willing to meet and know plenty of people there. It was simpler for me to go without a car, hope I can find a nice spot in camp area when I get there on 6/15 evening. Kik and instagram dr_wildermann. See you all in the mountains! Cheers! First time MJ'er here also in the car camping section. What time can we arrive to get the party started? I was hoping early afternoon to be fully set up for the evening. |

Everybody be careful when getting close to the mountain. The cops will see your packed up vehicle and pull you over. Save the partying for the mountain. They pulled up next to me last year and got me for a seatbelt violation. It has been recommended to exit the highway one exit early and take the beautiful backroads.

Exit 19 - take rt28 to Rt214 - Just know the Ulster County Cops know about MtnJam and will pull you over as well..
Best advice is to just WAIT until you get to the mountain to party - clean up well before you get off the Thruway exit..

Does anyone know if they sell ice there? It's going to be difficult to bring enough ice for 3 days.
