So last year I went after the Poughkeepsie Journal and the Daily Freeman for listing arrests for ONLY Mountain Jam and NOT Taste of Country. I saw bloodied people being dragged out of ToC - nothing made the paper... I sent letters to the editor - Called them out on the articles and spoke to editors.. I accused them of crappy journalism.. Waiting for news to show up and not looking at the real story.. I hit them hard on this.. Told them - maybe the real story is - Why do the police give you arrest info only for Mountain Jam when the Taste of Country arrests are WAY more violent and scary... So this year.... NOTHING!!!! HELL YES!!! Now that poor kid that got pulled over and busted for a joint isn't going to get his name dragged around..

Good to hear. Just out curiosity, did your letters to the editor get published?

Who needs the first amendment anyway? Suppressing journalists from reporting illegal activity: aka doing their job. You should feel proud of yourself. Not like freedom of the press is a constitutional amendment and marijuana is illegal in NY.

I think hunterjammer exercised his first amendment right by expressing his concern over the newspaper's reporting. Didn't demand that that type of reporting be removed. Simply requested if they do so, that the same treatment should apply to other festivals (TOC). Fair is fair. Not sure if hunter has the influence to "suppress" the journalists...he offered his opinion. Maybe he wasn't the only one. Perhaps the paper just felt it wasn't of any value to report on a few non violent violations.

Exactly... I'm not congress or the Government. But as a citizen I have the right to my free speech to call out the press because of the First Amendment.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
When I see people being dragged out of a festival with bloody faces and knuckles and that doesn't get reported but pot possession does.... We have a problem. I am more concerned about my safety from violent people than a pot smoker.
Fact...

The issue that HD addressed was the media's bias. KUDOS. He did not request MJ arrests be hidden, only for fair coverage. A journalist's job is honest and accurate reporting so that the citizens can have a productive discussion and affect policy. The paper's previous action reinforced the mindset of the reefer madness days and ignore the stereotype of a parking lot full of General Lees.
Having the data from both fests made public, especially if the promoters are using the same security and logistics, would certainly be discussed here. However, I would wager the debate would center around a disproportionate amount of arrests for possession opposed to drunk and disorderly conduct. Would you rather have someone near you knowingly in possession of an illegal substance but leaving you alone or someone abusing a legal substance and acting violently?
