Mountain Jammers,
I learned last night that not only am I out for this year but Temporary Saint and Soulmate are ending their 8 year streak. The end of an era indeed. A passing of the torch, maybe. We've done out best keeping that MJ feeeelin' going here. A special thanks to Soulmate for her time on the board.
This MJ weekend, forget dancing like nobody is watching. Dance like a toddler. They don't care if you don't hear their music.
Safe travels, clear weather, good vibes to all from the five directions: the north, the south, the east, the west and within.

I saw this festival born 12 years ago & have been there for every MJ . To see how empty it was this year in both actuality & metaphorically was very soul crushing . This well might have been the last Mountain Jam . If the VIP's & the cash they laid out doesn't cover the freight of all the missing campers the didn't attend the promoters might be taking a bit of a hit on this one . If it does it serves them right for ignoring the #1 rule of karma , "If it ain't broke , don't fix it ."

It was unreal how dead the GA camping was as well as the car camping down by the lodge. I agree with Kenski, it does serve them right for ignoring the #1 rule in karma. I wish they could see that and start to bring it back to the original roots. It was my 9th year and I feel as though my summers wouldn't start properly if it wasn't started up on the mountain in the beginning of June. Regardless of the lineups I would be bummed if it was the last year.

Warren says:
To go too far from the original spirit would be a mistake. The mistake has been made. The VIP intrusion used to be fodder to busting chops here... now too far. The line up, branching out is cool. Do it on the little stage and inside, keep the jam bands and the DEAD stuff front and center.
I have also heard that UM made a comment on stage about the empty VIP. When you start making a band that is within the original concept and has played 6/12 years upset enough to comment on stage and potential burn the bridge, a mistake has been made.
Can't complain without making a suggestion for a solution. Keep Super Duper Jammer VIP with seats on the stage, Keep Super Jammer access to the space between the stage and rail, keep the VIP food section and attached small deck viewing area. Eliminate the large VIP viewing area and go back to open space with a chair line starting at the sound stage. I'm sure they have the data to figure how how much they would need to raise GA to break even.

If they raise the GA price anymore they're going to lose a huge chunk of people. I bought 4 day GA camp on Wednesday night and they charged me 310. It goes any higher and they're going to lose the majority of the people.

I spoke to a Hunter Mountain person about the set up. She said the company in charge of management and security is the same as the Country music festival this coming weekend and they made a lot of the decisions based on not wanting to redo the set up during the week.

i heard GA camping was pretty empty. i never went further than the first slope which seemed pretty full. I def noticed the crowd at mule/thiev corp was realllly thin... during the day the stage area seemed really packed but i guess that was all just day passers

Hotels were packed... Condos were booked up.. People parked at the local lots instead of paying the price..
Stage setup was indeed huge and strangly setup because of the Taste of Country fest..
MtnJam is a small festival - now it's contained in a space for three times as many people... It's almost a dry run for Taste of Country...

It goes any higher and they're going to lose the majority of the people. Buy it in advance and save up to $100. I think it's like $200 for 4 day GA with Camping for 2017 now. I bought mine late spring this year and I think it was $240 (pretty early ticket I think).
