Hey everyone, first timer here! Driving up from NJ tonight with a couple friends, since we're volunteering. Saw this question in a couple threads for the previous years, but was looking for a more updated opinion.
What's the car/person/luggage search like, just for initial arrival to the campgrounds? I've read the horror stories all over Facebook and the web and I watched Gary & Ken's live video on the changes to Security over the last two years. Still feel like I don't know what to expect.
We're parking our car offsite once we unload our crap....will they still search any of my vehicle? Will they actually comb through our bags to enter the campground? I understand and expect searches entering the festival fields. To be frank, really just wondering if we should bring our herbs to camp deep in our luggage upon arrival, or if I should make a trip back to my car for a few things later on. Don't know if arriving early for volunteering makes them more relaxed either.
Thanks!

I don't think they'll search your car if you're parking off site, but they will probably search whatever bags and anything else you bring into the camping area.

Good question, you definitely need to be high in order to volunteer so you'd think they'd allow you to bring in illegal drugs.

Hey Me, I know sarcasm's a requirement for you to hit "post" (for example, we get it - you think it's ridiculous that grilling is allowed in car camping), but my volunteer shifts are the first two possible. I'm a professional at any and all events I do, whether paid or volunteer.
Any extracurricular activity would be after my work obligation. Do you want to confiscate all adult volunteers' alcohol too?

Terp, when they are searching, they are primarily looking for glass bottles, weapons and anything outside the parameters of what they say you can and can not bring. My experience is in the last few years is they open all doors, look at your stuff, ask a few questions and your on your way. You may want to leave anything in your car that you may feel security might find questionable and go back for it after. I pack everything with the expectation of it being opened and questioned. Everything is in view and packed in clear containers for security to see and I put my coolers on the sides so they can be easily accessed for inspection. I believe your car will still be inspected before you get to drop your stuff at the front door of the lodge,

at least from the last 2 years, you didnt get your car searched if you did off-site parking. they just look through your bags. Both previous years ive gone ive seen volunteers looking through bags while one or two sheriffs stand around the area. Just be friendly to the volunteer, pull shit out to help them search and be smart hiding shit.
