Sorry for the obnoxious all caps, but thought this one was important. In today's live Q&A the head of security made it clear that tent camping only people are NOT allowed any kind of grills what's so ever. Car/RV camping only. Makes ZERO sense to me, but he said it was a rule handed down by the health board or something.
They won't confiscate your grills, but they will confiscate any propane you try to bring in. There will also be camping security, general security, and health dept people walking around the camp grounds looking for offenders.
He said there'd be a communal cooking area with a "giant bonfire" though that might have been a joke. I listened to it earlier and didn't take close notes or anything.
Guess you need to have a car full of gasoline in order to make grilling safe or something.
Just wanted to let people know before they dropped off all their gear, parked off site, and then were told they couldn't bring their grills in at the security check point.

What was said is the department of health will not allow grills in the tent camping area due to the concentration of tented area and it's a safety issue.
They will provide a large charcoal grill station for all to use.
That only applies to tent camping.
Car camping and RV's will be able to grill on a small grill

Anybody know where about they're going to put that charcoal station? I remember last year they tried to make designated cooking areas, but that all pretty much went away by Friday night

I'm confused about this. I messaged mountain jams Facebook asking about the grill situation after reading there was no cooking of any kind in the tent area this year on the website. There response was "we can bring them but tent campers will be grilling in designated grilling areas". After that q@a this morning I'm not sure if whoever messaged me back is on the same page. Planning on bringing my grill and small propane cylinder anyway.

Nothing to add except that I read the thread as "NO GIRLS ALLOWED IN TENT CAMPING AREA"

Here's the link to the replay (I only watched like half of it myself, so they must mention the community charcoaling area later in the video). They make it clear that there will be NO GRILLING ALLOWED in tent camping. They make it abundantly clear. Since it was a live Q&A the question was re-asked several times by people who were confused by the rule. I know you're saying you're going to bring your stuff and hopefully they just confiscate the propane tanks like they're saying. Otherwise, I fear you might be making a return trip to your car to bring your grill back. Just trying to save tent campers a headache.

I agree with "Me". Why subject yourself to more scrutiny if you know your not supposed to do something. It might make security wonder, "hmmm, wonder what else he might have that he shouldn't"?...

Is there cooking allowed in Near car camping? Good question. I would assume you could set up your grill by your car and walk there to cook. The grill will be near a bunch of gasoline, so that seems to make it safe according to the Dept of Health

Please, can anyone tell me where the communal grilling area will be? I need to know this before I pack things I can't cook!

Is there cooking allowed in Near car camping? Probably not, unless you cook at your vehicle and stow it before you leave it. Near car camping is just a term for "tent camping with your car nearby in an adjacent lot" You will definitely be asked to remove it if it is in tent camping or near car camping.
