I've read through the threads from the last few years, and am having a hard time finding an opinion on the best (quickest/least traffic) route in. Arriving at around 9:30 pm on Thursday, what should I expect as far as traffic goes, and which route would you suggest? If those of you who've been before could lend a hand, it would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

9:30pm shouldn't be a problem at all as it's when the headliner of the night is playing. I wouldn't expect any problems with traffic. The ride up the mountain could be a little scary if it's dark and raining and you've never driven it before. Especially if it's foggy, just drive safely and you shouldn't have any problems.

I drive from the NYC area and there are a lot of twisty turns on my route. I've never driven it at night but just take your time and observe posted signs and speed limit.

Excellent thanks for your help! One more question: I just read on Mtn. Jam's website that the "campground hours" are from 8:30 am to 9 pm. I assume that's for the off-site campground. Does anyone know if there is a cut-off time at which I can't arrive and set up for Mtn. Jam tent camping? Again, I was planning on getting there at 9:30 pm on Thursday as I have a 3-Day pass.

Hairy is right.
To gain access onto the mountain on Thursday, you need a 4 day pass.

I shut my mind off and go into the "school of fish" mentality. Lol. I follow my gps and not put much thought into it. Also a tad hard to remember being I only do this once a year. While listening to the Q&A with Gary yesterday, he mentioned to get off at exit 19 and take some back roads if the weather is nice. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Traffic is pretty brutal right now on main street as they're doing construction on the bridge that goes over the wallkill river.

I'd recommend going through Kingston (exit 19) or exit 20. You can do 21 or course but I prefer the others

Does the slow traffic ever extend all the way to the interstate? Which roads are the worst? I'm thinking of either taking 213 to 28 to 214 (If I stay in New Paltz the night before), or taking 23 to 296 to 23A and coming in from the West (If I come down from the North). Any thoughts?
