I'm guessing that anyone who feels that neither Beck nor Wilco are headline worthy has not seen either live. Sure, they're not ABB or Dead & Co. but who else do you want? Pink Floyd?!?! Fact of the matter is that both acts kick ass live and I'm very excited about this year. I would say that 75% of the bands I see live I gain a new found appreciation for. (The Avetts being one of those bands in the 25% LOL-Jetro) So, no haven't seen Beck or Wilco. Wasn't into Beck during "Loser"... etc and Tweedy turned me off, also in that 25% If you like them, cool. Have your best MJ ever. Like they say,"Some people don't like licorice, but those that do, really like licorice." TTB, Anders, DBT, NMAS all get me to the mountain even if not a headlining slot. The year we thought Levon and Friends was a weak headline went down as one of the greatest, if not the greatest MJ set. Pink Floyd? Dark Side of the Mule was close enough.

Tweedy 2 years ago on the mountain was one of the worst sets I've ever seen. Ask gathering of the vibes how wilco turned out for them last year? Pretty disappointed in this lineup from top to bottom

People seem confused between Tweedy (Jeff Tweedy's band with his son and others, who played Mountain Jam in 2014) and Wilco (who will be playing this year). They're two very different bands. When the Tweedy band played 2 years ago, it was their very first live show as a band, playing behind Jeff Tweedy's solo album Sukierae. I personally love that album and band, but their music is much different from Wilco. I think people who haven't seen Wilco will be blown away.

Same as the Warren Haynes Band vs MULE. But I tell you. That WHB set one year led directly into the infamous snoozer MULE set. I know Wilco has been on Gary's wish list since the beginning, so they can't be anything to sneeze at.
I guess the thing the transition from WDST and Warren Haynes presents to TSM in association with WDST and Warren Haynes brought about going to MJ not being an automatic ticket purchase. The increase in VIP and bulldozing of the Awareness Village pushes people away and the lineup becomes more important. We are at a place where the line up has to bring us back. It's not just gravy on top of the famous MJ vibe.
There is a disturbance in the force. And, while Marco should be there in some capacity every year, the additions did nothing to change my mind. The announcement didn't even create a ripple here.

Well, clearly there's a lot of history with many of the people on this board, and I'm a complete newbie. From my perspective, though, the big draw for this festival is the lineup, in particular Wilco, Beck, Jason Isbell and Courtney Barnett.

I've been a Wilco fan for a while and I didn't like the Tweedy set at all. But, like someone mentioned, it was their 1st live show together ever. Give them a break. Wilco is amazing live. WAY different. Nels Cline will blow minds. I just hop they don't come out with their whole new album in its entirety. They did that at Vibes. Older stuff is much better. Tweedy playing a shorter day slot versus Wilco at night headlining spot is 2 totally different things.

I've been listening to The Record Company a lot lately and think they're going to be the unsung highlight of the weekend. They're REALLY good.
