Favorite Band You've Seen At Mountain Jam: Blitzen Trapper

Hi all --
Getting psyched for my third Mountain Jam. My highlight of the summer. Now that the lineup is out, I'm already guessing which bands play which nights.
It appears the Avett Brothers have previous engagements on June 3 & 4. So, they're Sunday headliner, since Umphree's is Thursday night.
So, on Friday... Does Beck headline? Do both Beck & Wilco play on the same night? It's hard to imagine Beck plying Mtn, Jam on Sat., with him being at the Governor's Ball that weekend. I'm tempted to think that like last year with Robert Plant and Grace Potter on Friday night, they might do the same with Beck & Wilco. I'd like to see a Saturday night Mule extravaganza this time.

I'm only assuming that Beck and Wilco will be headliners but not Avett

I would imagine they are going to add at least one more headliner. Mule never headlines and are wilco or avett brothers really headliners? Tweedy put on one of the worst shows I've ever seen 2 years ago at jam I'm not sure why they would bring him back. Man I miss the days when primus and panic were headliners.

Mule never headlines? Did you miss the first 10 Mountain Jams? Personally I'm fine with Mule not headlining, but the fact is that they've headlined this festival more often than not. As for the Avett Brothers, I don't think of them as headliners either but they do seem to be a pretty big draw these days. They're headlining their own show at Madison Square Garden in April.

I'm not fine with Mule not having a headliner spot.

I'm not fine with Mule not having a headliner spot. Mule late night is good though...... I really prefer a Mule Friday headliner show and a Saturday Mule late night ........... or maybe just get rid of all the other bands and have 4 days of Mule - there's an idea. What I do know for sure is that 1 night of Mule doesn't cut it. We require 2 nights - end of story.

Mule Friday and Saturday late night would be ideal. Hopefully beck is Sunday night headliner so I can get an early start on the road

This will be my first Mountain Jam. Not sure, but I think Alabama Shakes headlined Sunday last year. If The Avett Brothers play Sunday they will headline. Definitely bigger than Alabama Shakes.

While I personally prefer the Avett Brothers over Alabama Shakes, I don't think they're "bigger". Alabama Shakes consistently headline large venues, while the Avett Brothers do not. Alabama Shakes have also had more chart success and more Grammy nominations.

Alabama Shakes have also had more chart success and more Grammy nominations. It might be just my opinion. I just look at the Avett Brothers are about to put out their 9th studio album. Shakes have 2. This years tour Avett Brothers are headlining 3 nights at the Chicago Theatre, The Greek, MSG, and 3 nights at Red Rocks. All places they have headlined before. Then Forecastle has Avetts as top billing followed by Alabama Shakes. As far as charts go both of them have had better success there than the Grateful Dead ever did. So I don't put too much stock in those.

Agreed 100% - I've heard a few people complaining about Wilco due to Tweedy's pretty half-assed set a couple years ago..... Trust me - Wilco is a whole other animal. I'd be shocked if they don't deliver a really good set.

Wilco tours all the time and I've seen them tons, but Beck I've only seen twice, so I suppose I'm more excited for that. But make no mistake, Wilco will be great for those who are doubters. I've taken friends who basically only listened to the Allman Bros to Wilco concerts and they've come away fans.
