I'm packing the RV and leaving today.

I'd rather not have Steve Miller. When has Mtn Jam ever had two headliners that don't jam? Give me the Dead, Ratdog, P&F, SCI, Panic, or Primus over Steve Miller Band.

I don't think we are talking about a barn burner, Miller would be more of a guilty pleasure. Potentially between MULE and Dark Side of the MULE? Don't need four days of jammin. 45-90 minutes of good time grooves that everybody knows can be a palette cleanser.
Would the Doobies be better?
I would rather hold off on PRIMUS to get Willy Wonka on Thursday next year, or Duo De Twang this year.
Always thought a Willie Nelson closer would be perfect.
MJ is a mid size fest. Need to pick and choose a bit. Keep the vibe between the college kids and the "veterans".

Obviously I am looking forward to both of the Mule sets, but the fact is that neither is the headlining slot. If it were up to me, I'd bookend the Black Keys set with Mule. Mule>Black Keys>DSOTMule on Saturday night would have the potential to be one of the best nights of music I've seen. I'm just saying that if we are talking about filling the 9 PM Saturday or 7 PM Sunday main stage time slot, either Steve Miller Band or the Doobie Brothers would be a let down (obviously only my opinion).
When I look at the top end bands from the last few years I see Ratdog, Allman Brothers, Phil and Friends, Widespread Panic, My Morning Jacket, and Levon Helm. While I'm sure Steve Miller or the Doobies would be a good time, those kind of acts just don't have the ability to take me to my musical "happy place" the way I'm used to at Mountain Jam. If I want to hear that kind of music for 2 hours, I'll just turn on the local classic rock station.

The Catskill Mtns are my happy place. I'd be more than fine with SCI or PANIC in there. I think Trey and theDEAD are the other headliners. Miller and Doobies earlier would be great... spread that Franti/Avett money around.

As much as I would Love,Love,LOVE The Dead to be there,I just don't think that Mountain Jam is a big enough Venue. If they DO play shows this Year(as expected) I WILL need to go to at least 1 so if it was included in the Mountain Jam line up that would be fantastic!

Eight MJs in, I can say we already are getting Dark Side of the MULE-
How much it rains will have more of an impact on me than the line up.

I still am leaning towards the mountain not being big enough for the 50th reunion shows, but if they can pull it off, I'll be stoked. I hope Franti and the Avetts don't go anywhere. I know that we see them every year, but I really have enjoyed the evolution of the Avett Brothers over the years, and no one else can wake me back up on Sunday after a long (and usually wet) three days like Michael Franti.

The next time the Townsquare folks need to make a yacht payment...
Last year we got the first announcement mid January after the holiday bills and then the ABB announcement. This year we got the the headliners early.

Black Crowes are over and done with. CRB is a better bet. Mtn jam cant afford the dead or the influx of people.

I will be disappointed if there isn't any Dead-related acts. I would even be more than happy with JRAD. JRAD with Phil and Warren to close out the weekend?

Thread police!
Since Warren is already there we can remain hopeful for TheDEAD, and yes the CROWES are out, history and present status are against it. Too soon to repeat MMJ or WSP. We are supposed to be shooting for accuracy.
* Looking for Friday and Sunday headliners.
* The MULE two set one late night the other not headlining thing has to be because they are not sure what they will be able to secure but had to put something worthwhile in there. It gives them a fallback.
* WDST and Warren's names are back in the banner
* We tend to get parts of bigger bands
* Shooting younger this year it seems
* Has to be some DEAD related thing in there
Current Friday prediction - Trey and another PHISH member with Warren stopping by (Warren, Trey, Mike, you could get Marco to swing by to play Paige's parts and put me on drums and sell tickets)
Current Sunday prediction - Some mash up of Warren, Phil, Bobby, JRAD, DSO, Communion, Furthur...
